About La Jefa Foundation

La Jefa Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting truth, transparency, due process awareness, public education, and support for individuals and families seeking resources and answers.

Truth. Transparency. Due Process.

Our Mission

La Jefa Foundation exists to promote truth, transparency, due process awareness, public education, and support for individuals and families seeking resources and answers.

We believe every person deserves fair treatment, access to information, and the opportunity to understand the systems that affect their lives.

Why We Exist

Turning Experience Into Action

La Jefa Foundation was born from our family's search for answers after the loss of Daniel Adrian Barajas.

What began as grief became a deeper understanding of how difficult it can be for families to obtain information, navigate systems, and find meaningful support.

Today, we work to help others facing uncertainty, loss, and difficult questions.

While every family's circumstances are unique, many face similar challenges:

  • Not knowing where to begin

  • Difficulty finding resources

  • Understanding public processes

  • Locating support organizations

  • Feeling overwhelmed and isolated

Our goal is to help make those paths easier to navigate

Our Commitment

We believe questions deserve answers.

We believe transparency builds trust.

We believe due process protects everyone.

We believe every person deserves dignity, fairness, and the opportunity to be heard.

We believe no family should have to navigate difficult circumstances alone.

Our Values

  • Families deserve access to accurate information and transparent processes.

  • Procedural fairness protects everyone, regardless of circumstance.

  • Questions should be welcomed, not discouraged.

  • Our events prioritize comfort, safety, and respect—so you can show up as you are and fully engage in the process.

The Meaning Behind Our Logo

The La Jefa Foundation logo was intentionally designed to reflect the values at the heart of our mission.

The name "La Jefa" stands for Liberty and Justice For All.

The woman depicted in the logo represents both modern day Lady Liberty and Lady Justice—two enduring symbols of freedom, fairness, accountability, and equal treatment under the law.

The crown symbolizes Lady Liberty and the fundamental belief that every person possesses inherent dignity, worth, and rights.

The closed eyes symbolize Lady Justice and the principle of impartiality. Justice should be fair, unbiased, and applied equally regardless of circumstance, status, or background.

The marigolds surrounding her are inspired by Día de los Muertos traditions. Marigolds are often used to honor and remember loved ones who have passed. Within our logo, they serve as a tribute to Daniel Adrian Barajas and to all those whose memories continue to inspire acts of service, compassion, and advocacy.

Together, these elements reflect La Jefa Foundation's commitment to liberty, justice, truth, transparency, due process, remembrance, and support for individuals and families seeking answers and justice.
